Another quick drawing, this time with thick marker pens i found this gave off a POP art look, i like it but i dont think it looks like the original, this is because i cut out bits that would ruin the POP art look.
So i put this together on photoshop, just experimenting with different techniques, here i have tried a different type by making the type out of another image and adding a shadow, and the stripes are simply copying parts of the layer and moving them and adjusting the hue.
so i thought i should try and come up with a type similar to Zoe's work, and this is what i came up with, i stuck to the fairly simple type but with its boldness to catch the viewers eye, which if i do a poster for the Barbers this is quite important as the view wants to know where this is.
Gold Card Print of the Barbers
so i sat down and did a gold card print of the image of the barbers, i have to say im very pleased with how it turned out, even though it doesnt have to much detail i feel this alows the viewer to foucus on the main part of the print which is the barbers sign.
So while walking around taking more photos i remembered my Barbers sign and i have to say you dont see enough of these any more, making this actually quite a interesting thing about Badshot Lea and i have to say this is one of the best places you can go in the area, same barber every time so its a really nice atmosphere you get there, so i was thinking my poster could advertise him!
I like this aspect of londons buildings and type because its quite comic like with its black and white, each font is similar but slightly different, the boldness of them make them still easy to read but it also helps the words stand out so that the images dont take all of the views attention.
i would personally like to use some of her fonts in my work or create my own similar font.
I like the detail put into the girl but also how not much detail is put into the ripples, they seem quite basic and as if draw by the child, the mix of the detail and the simplicity (contrasting) is really affective and catches my eye and i could very well use something like this for my poster
this also fits in with a previouse project i did but this map of the world done by Oliver Jeffers, is great i love its simplicity. the back ground i like, even though its just a fence it shows the map very clearly and in some ways i feel refers to the world is your oyster, the idea of the worls is just out side your backdoor!
